Praise God!

To catch everyone up, this process has had its ups and downs. One of the biggest delays has been getting sewer to our property, since the city will not allow us to build until it is fully designed and guaranteed.

To make that happen, we have been dependent on landowners and two different developers for approvals, easements, and designs, along with approval from ITD, before the city would move forward.

The Good News

• This week, the first developer we needed access through received final permits and plan approval from ITD (Idaho Transportation Department). This is a huge step because it has been what we were stuck on, and it now allows sewer to be brought in our direction. Without this, we would have been at a standstill. Praise God!

• In addition, the city told us yesterday that their final approval of this developer’s sewer plan should be completed by this week. This developer needed approval from both ITD and the City of Meridian.

• Also, all easements for both developers and for us have now been officially recorded with the city. This means we now have permission to run sewer across all three properties needed to make this happen. This was not an easy process.

• The city also shared that they expect approval of the second developer’s plans, along with our sewer plans, by the end of next week. After that, we will finalize the surety and performance bonds, which should take about another week.

In summary, we were told that by Memorial Day weekend we should be able to pull permits and officially begin building, (although we have already started some initial work). That is a big moment and something we have been waiting a long time for.

Next Steps for Building

• We have been given clearance to begin digging trenches for drainage and other underground work in the next week or so. You will start to see more activity on the property.

• We are praying and asking that the city might allow us to pour concrete before permits are officially pulled. Please join us in praying for favor in that. This could allow us to pour concrete before Memorial Day. If not, we will do it soon after.

• Either way, by the end of May and into June we should begin to see real activity on the property. If we start dirt work on the pad around Memorial Day weekend, we would then move into concrete and footers for steel. In July and August, we should see the steel go up.

• We have been told this week that the remaining build time will be around 16 to 18 months from this point forward.

• We are also currently working with an interior design team and expect to have those plans finalized within the next month. Once those are ready, we will share renderings with you!

Huge Praise!

Thank you for your patience through this process, even when it has felt slow at times. It’s so awesome to know that this is something that is on your heart for your friends and loved ones. The reality is, that we can’t change hearts, only God can. BUT, it is our job as followers of Christ to live in a way that reflects who He is and His character in our lives. The most powerful witness to others isn’t an argument or debate. It’s a consistent life that shows God’s grace, peace, and kindness over time. It helps to remember that Jesus didn’t come for the already-convinced. He came for the lost, the skeptical, the stuck, and the broken. And He met people where they were—not with pressure, but with compassion. That same spirit lives in you when you simply walk with someone, listen to their story, and love them like Christ would. Sometimes the most Christlike thing you can do is just to be there—steady, patient, forgiving, joyful. That kind of life speaks volumes. And when the time is right, God will use your words, your actions, and your heart to open a door. So don’t lose hope. Keep praying. Keep loving. Keep showing up. You’re not alone in this—God is already at work in ways you might not even see yet.

But that doesn’t mean the Bible denies their existence. In fact, many believers think there are hints or descriptions of large, powerful creatures that might align with what we now call dinosaurs.

For example, in the book of Job, God speaks of a creature called Behemoth (Job 40:15–24) and another called Leviathan (Job 41). Behemoth is described as a massive, grass-eating land animal with strong bones and a tail “like a cedar.” Leviathan is a fierce sea creature, breathing fire and smoke. Some see these as poetic descriptions of creatures that Job would’ve recognized—possibly even dinosaurs or other now-extinct animals. Others believe they could be symbolic, mythic imagery used to express God’s power and creativity. Either way, the message is that God is the Creator of all things, known and unknown.
It’s also okay to recognize that the Bible isn't a science textbook—it’s God’s story of His love, purpose, and redemption for humanity. So it doesn’t list every animal or explain every piece of natural history. But what we do see is that God made “the beasts of the earth” and “everything that has the breath of life” (Genesis 1:24–25), which certainly includes animals that lived long before us.

Love that is true must be freely chosen. That’s why God didn’t create us to automatically follow Him or to be incapable of sin. Without the freedom to choose good, love, and God, there would be no meaning in choosing them at all.

But with that freedom comes the heartbreaking reality that people can also choose evil. And tragically, those choices often hurt the innocent—especially children. It’s not that God wants children to suffer. He grieves that suffering more deeply than we can imagine. Jesus Himself wept over pain and loss. He never looked away from suffering—He entered into it, bore it on the cross, and promised to redeem it.

The Bible doesn't give us every answer to why, but it does assure us of who God is: a loving Father, a suffering Savior, and a Comforter through the Holy Spirit. It promises that one day, God will make all things new—every tear wiped away, every injustice made right (Revelation 21:4). Until then, we are called not to explain away suffering but to love in the midst of it, to walk with those who hurt, and to hold onto hope that God is still good, even in a broken world.

You’re not alone in this question. God welcomes our doubts, our grief, our anger, and our aching hearts. And sometimes, the most faithful thing we can do is to simply bring those hard questions to Him, trusting that He hears, He cares, and He’s not finished yet.

And throughout the course of this series, we've asked you to submit questions that you wrestle with personally. And one of the questions that you've asked is, what is the Bible say about alcohol?

Is drinking alcohol in moderation okay? And that is a great question. I think that's a question that a lot of us ask and should ask. And the short answer to that question is that, yes, the Bible does permit drinking in moderation. We see Jesus creating wine out of water. And John, chapter two, we see Paul telling Timothy to drink a little bit of wine to help his stomach.

And first, Timothy, chapter five. And we see Psalms 104 called Wine, a gift that gladdens the heart. But the Bible is also very clear that drunkenness is a sin, Paul says in Ephesians Chapter five, to not fill ourselves with wine, but to fill ourselves with the spirit and in all things, including alcohol. As Christians, we must let wisdom and love of neighbor neighbor be the primary drivers of our decisions.

So I believe that in light of Scripture, all of Scripture, there are three things that we should keep in mind as Christians, as we are letting wisdom and love of neighbor be our primary motivators. And the first thing is if you are are drinking alcohol to cope with stress instead of leaning on God, if you are using alcohol to distract away your problems instead of just trusting God, then you are actually replacing God with alcohol and that is a sin.

The second thing is, is if you have a addictive personality or if addiction runs in your family, you should use extreme caution when it comes to alcohol use wisdom and discernment and be careful. And then the third thing is to consider your influence. Consider those are who are around you and what they need from you and their concerns.

So if they wrestle with addiction, if they wrestle with alcoholism, or if they have a personal conviction against alcohol, you should let love of neighbor be your motivating factor. And I think that scripture would require love over liberty in those situations. So in summary, yes, scripture allows drinking alcohol in moderation and it forbids drunkenness.

But we should always use wisdom, discernment, self-control and love as our primary motivators, including whenever we consider drinking alcohol.

God has been moving in powerful ways, and we want to celebrate that with you.

Celebrations
Over the past three years, we’ve seen over 450 baptisms and 350 decisions to follow Christ. That’s incredible—and it’s happening because of God’s goodness and your faithfulness. Your time, generosity, and prayers are making a real difference.
As for the building project—we’ve officially selected a lender for the loan! After reviewing several offers, we’re excited about the direction and hope to close within the next 60 days. Your faithful giving put us in a strong position to negotiate and receive competitive offers. Thank you!
We’ve also pre-purchased key materials—like the metal structure, piping, and conduit—locking in prices and avoiding major cost increases from inflation and tariffs. This strategic move saved the church between 9–13%. A big win!

Building Timeline

Praise God—our building plans are nearly fully approved by the city, and financing will be in place soon. Almost everything is ready to go, but sewer access continues to hold us up.

Up until a couple of months ago, we believed everything was in place and had received the green light following final plat approval. However, we've since run into permitting delays due to coordination issues with other developments outside of our control.

Two possible sewer routes we’re asking you to pray for...

OPTION 1:
The first option, coming from the northeast, depends on securing an easement from a second landowner. In the image below, the property on the right is owned by a developer where the sewer line originates (the green line). This is the developer who has told us we can obtain an easement to access sewer for our property.

However, the irrigation district has mandated that the developer relocate their roadway and sewer to avoid interference with an existing irrigation canal. This change now requires the developer to obtain an easement from the neighboring property to the west (Private Property). For this route to work, the private landowner on the left must grant an easement for both the road and sewer.

Until that happens—and the road and sewer plans are redesigned and approved by the city—we are not permitted to begin construction. At this point, we are waiting on both the landowner and the developer to move forward with a decision. Please pray that would happen quickly.

OPTION 2:
The second option is from the southeast, but it requires both an easement from a private landowner and for two other developments to submit site plans that include a sewer connection to our property. Unfortunately, those timelines are uncertain—it could move quickly, or it could take more time.

As you can see in the image below, the sewer line would run from the privately owned property in the bottom right corner, then head north and west toward our site. We’re praying that the owner of this property will agree to grant the necessary sewer easement. In the past, he has declined similar requests for reasons we don’t fully know. Please join us in praying that God would move in his heart to make a way forward.

We’re open to either option—we just need a clear path forward. We're praying that one of these routes opens up soon. We’re hopeful and feel that progress is coming, but the exact timeline remains uncertain.

Frustrated but Hopeful

Honestly, this process has been hard—and at times, frustrating. For us, for our team, and likely for many of you. We’re ready to build. We’re excited. And we’re incredibly grateful for how much you’ve already invested to get us to this point.
But here’s what we know: God’s timing is perfect. He’s been faithful through every step of this journey, even when things haven’t gone the way we would’ve preferred. And every single week, He reminds us that He doesn’t need a building to move through Stonehill. Lives are being changed—right now.

What can you do?

PRAY. We serve an incredible God, and He is present in this situation! Please pray that a clear path for sewer access opens up—and soon. Pray for the lives being impacted through this ministry, and for continued unity and perseverance as we move forward.

If you’ve been giving toward the building, thank you! Your generosity is making a real difference and will help reduce future overhead once we break ground. If you haven’t started giving yet, we’d love to invite you to jump in and be part of what God is building—both physically and spiritually.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me or our Elders at elders@stonehill.church. When answering questions like these, it's important to remember that God did not create out of necessity; he created out of the desire to have a loving relationship (John 1, 1 John 4:8). For love to be genuine, it must be freely given and received. Love without a choice is not love at all; it's coercion. Thus, Adam and Eve had the choice to obey or disobey. God's desire to offer a loving relationship to humankind opened the door for the fall of humanity. It's important to note that the presence of Satan is not an oversight by God but part of a moral environment in which real choice is possible.

Does allowing Satan into the garden and not intervening on Eve's behalf undermine God's sovereignty? Not at all. God's sovereignty is expressed not in God determining every action of man, but in God's ability to redeem and restore even the most wicked actions of man (Romans 8:28). As soon as Adam and Eve realize the implications of their sin and hid from God, God began pursuing them and His redemption plan immediately began (Genesis 3:7-9)

In summary, God has given us free will out of love (because love without a choice is coercion), Adam and Eve abused that free will and disobeyed. God's ultimate sovereignty has been and continues to be demonstrated in redemption (rather than prevention), and the enemy will never defeat his grace! This is the good news of the Gospel.

I have
always felt that each person finds their way to heaven.

Answer:
Thank you for your honesty—
that’s a deep and thoughtful question, and you’re not alone in wrestling with it. Many
people, especially those who care about others from different backgrounds and beliefs, struggle with the idea that Jesus could be the only way to God.

First, it’s okay to begin with where you are. Christianity invites people into a relationship,
not just a system of belief. And questioning or wrestling with faith often means you’re engaging sincerely.

1. Jesus’ own words make and exclusive claim, but with an inclusive invitation.

In John 14:6, Jesus says:
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”

This is a bold, exclusive claim. But Jesus didn’t make it as a harsh ultimatum—
it was said tenderly to His disciples just before His death, as a comfort. He wasn't just giving them a theological bullet point; He was offering Himself as the trustworthy way to God.

The invitation of Jesus is open to all—regardless of background, race, past, or intellect
(John 3:16, Matthew 11:28). The exclusivity is in the way, not in who gets to come.

2. The Early Church Struggled with This Too—and Held Firm in Love.

The first Christians lived in a pluralistic world, surrounded by many gods and belief systems. But they still declared, as Peter did in Acts 4:12:
“There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Yet they didn’t force this truth—
they lived it out through love, service, and humility, often at great personal cost. They believed Jesus wasn’t just a truth among many, but the one who embodied truth itself.

3. What About Those Who Never Hear of Jesus?

That’s a common question behind this struggle—
and the Bible gives us hints but not full closure. What we do know is that:

• God is perfectly just and merciful (Genesis 18:25).
• He desires all people to be saved and to know the truth (1 Timothy 2:4).
• He has revealed Himself in creation and conscience (Romans 1–2).

So we trust God’s character with what we don’t know, and hold onto Jesus with what we do.

4. Why Jesus as the Way Still Matters:

If Jesus is who He said He is—the Son of God, God in the flesh—
then He doesn’t just show us the path, He is the path. His life, death, and resurrection weren’t just good examples; they were the bridge between a holy God and a broken world.

Believing in Him isn’t arrogant or dismissive of others—
it’s responding to the love of a God who came to find us. And part of following Him is also being a witness of that love to others, not with pride, but with compassion and patience.

A Final Thought:
It’s okay to wrestle with this tension. God can handle our questions. But don’t let the desire to honor others’ experiences keep you from embracing what you may know deep down to be true. Jesus is not just one option on a spiritual menu; He is the bread of life offered freely to all.

Does it bring joy to God for us to still try to follow his law?

This is a great question. If we are saved by grace, then why would we need to obey God? Does it matter or is it worth the work? As followers of Jesus, we live in the tension between grace and obedience. We are not saved by the Law. No act of righteousness, no checklist of rules, no spotless record can bring us into right standing with God. Salvation is a gift that we do not deserve and could not earn on our own as shown in Ephesians 2:1-10.

Made Alive in Christ
2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

We are saved through grace, by the love of Jesus Christ poured out to us on the cross. Yet, grace doesn’t excuse us from holy living, it empowers it. Grace changes our why. We don’t follow God’s commands out of fear or duty, but from love. Jesus didn’t say, “Keep my commandments so I’ll love you.” He said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments”(John 14:15). When we keep God’s commandments, we express our love to God and we grow closer to God.

The Law itself, while unable to save, is still good, because it reflects God’s heart. His commands are rooted in love, justice, mercy, and holiness. When we walk in obedience, we mirror our Father. Like children imitating a parent they adore, we begin to speak, act, and love like Him. We continue to develop our understanding of God, our closeness to God, and live out our faith by obeying God’s word.

Read: Romans 3:21-31

Righteousness Through Faith
21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness is given through faith in[h] Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement,[i] through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. 28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. 31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

As followers of Christ, we ‘uphold’ the law because we love Jesus. We show our love back to the Father by following and abiding in the things that make him glad. We grow closer to God and understand His ways better by obeying His commandments. We can’t earn our salvation as that is completed through Jesus. We’re getting closer to breaking ground, but we’ve encountered a small hurdle that we want to keep you informed about.

Where We Are Now
Sewer installation hit a snag due to the irrigation district requiring a road relocation on the partnering developer’s property, (where we are pulling sewer from) impacting the timeline for us getting the sewer we need. Until resolved, we’re in a holding pattern for sewer access and, in turn, building permits. The good news: the City of Meridian is allowing us to continue the permitting process. Once the partnering developer, City of Meridian, and ACHD finalize the road and sewer design and approval, we’ll be ready to move forward.

What’s the Timeline?
The actual timeline depends on when the developer, ACHD, and the City of Meridian finalize the road and sewer placement on the other property. We know this won’t happen in March or April and possibly not May. We are praying for May or June, but ultimately, it depends on when these approvals are completed.

What’s Happening in the Meantime?

Building Permitting – The city is actively working on our permits.

Ordering Materials – We have already started purchasing key materials.

Land Preparation Possibility – We may be able to prepare the land for the building pad and utilities before pulling final permits, helping us stay as close as possible to our hopeful timeline of moving into the building.

A Major Blessing!

Steel has already been ordered! We locked in pricing before recent inflation and tariff prices increase, saving at least $200,000 (likely more).

Lower-than-expected costs! Several contractor and city service bids came in lower than anticipated, saving at least $400,000 from our proposed budget.

By July, we expect to see steel beams on the property—what an exciting milestone that will be!

How You Can Pray

Pray for the developer, ACHD, and the City of Meridian to move through the sewer approval process quickly, so we can start construction on our building as soon as possible.

Pray for continued funding and financial provision as we prepare for this next phase.

Pray that we, as a church, remember that the building is an amazing tool—but it is just a tool. We, the people, are the church, and no matter where we gather, we will continue to be on mission: “To love all people and help them find and follow Jesus.”

Thank you for your prayers, generosity, and patience. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, ‘These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’9“I have seen these people,” the Lord said to Moses, “and they are a stiff-necked people. 10Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation.”11But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God. “Lord,” he said, “why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? 12Why should the Egyptians say, ‘It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people. 13Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’ ” 14Then the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.
- Exodus:7-14
